About this session
As our schools are bringing the classroom into the homes of our students, we have a responsibility to look at the broader scope of our students’ world: to the students’ peers, to their parents and families, and to the broader community. Are we being culturally responsive to the educational needs of our special needs students, of our English Language Learners, and of our students in difficult households?
Join us to hear how teachers and educators are providing social, emotional and academic support to students, family and communities facing difficulties during this transition. We'll be joined by Margie Crawford, M.Ed., Rice Education alumni teachers, current interns as well as clinical and cooperating teachers.

Margie Crawford taught in both public and private schools for thirty years, working closely with G/T, ELL, and special ed populations. In addition to being the ELA content specialist for preservice teachers at Rice, she is also an instructor and field supervisor working with interns and their mentors, and campus supervisors.
