Meditation for Crisis and Uncertainty

About this session

Dr. Alejandro Chaoul leads a meditation for the Glasscock School community as we collectively face the COVID-19 pandemic. This guided meditation is designed to help you find a center of peace, noticing, sitting with and releasing the stress, fear and other difficult feelings that are a normal part of living through this time of extraordinary uncertainty. Dr. Chaoul will also briefly discuss the science and philosophy behind mind-body interventions for health and healing. This recorded session will be released on Friday, April 10th and can be watched at your convenience.

Alejandro Chaoul, Ph.D., is the founding director of the Mind, Body, Spirit Institute at the Jung Center. In addition, he is a faculty member in the Integrative Medicine Program of MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he leads people with cancer and their families through mind/body/spirit techniques to reduce stress and facilitate healing. Dr. Chaoul has also engaged in research to assess the benefits of these practices. He is the author of Tibetan Yoga for Health and Well-Being and has personally studied Buddhist practices and traditions with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Löpon Tenzin Namdak and Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche. Dr. Chaoul holds a doctorate from Rice University focusing on Tibetan spiritual traditions and is a long-time Glasscock School meditation instructor.
