About this session

In times like these, our societies and economies depend on financial service professionals even more than usual. In today’s dynamic economic environment, most of us rely on sound financial advice and expert practitioners to navigate all the uncertainties and unexpected global phenomena that come our way. Today’s panel of experts each work in a different part of the financial sector, though their expertise sometimes overlaps in different ways. Today we will have a conversation about what each of the three credentials bring to the table and to learn more about how we might all take advantage of experts in these fields to attain our financial goals.

Jillian Nel

Jillian Nel is the Director of Financial Planning for Inscription Capital, LLC. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional (CFP®) and a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA). Jillian and her team provide comprehensive financial planning and risk management to individual clients, business owners & their families. She also provides consulting and advisory services for qualified retirement plans to business owners, plan administrators, and participants. Jillian has a passion for education and the empowerment it provides to both clients and the general public. She regularly speaks at financial planning seminars and employee educational meetings on how goal setting and risk management is essential for success in any financial planning scenario. In 2017, Jillian became the Academic Director for the CFP® Certification Education Program within the Glasscock School at Rice University. This course prepares candidates to sit for the CFP® exam. Jillian has also served as an instructor of Retirement Planning & Employee Benefits for the program since 2013 and continues to teach on a regular basis. Jillian has the Series 7 & 66 securities license, as well as the Series 24, general securities principal, and is licensed as a General Lines Insurance Agent for the State of Texas. Jillian received a B.S. in Business Administration from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She earned the CFP® designation in 2011 & became a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst in 2015. Jillian's charitable efforts include membership in the Corporate Guild for Dress for Success Houston. She is the Vice President of the board of directors for the Women’s Fund. She is also a board member for the HER Foundation that supports the Women's Fund and an advisory board member the Periwinkle Foundation, all local Houston charities.

 

Matt Caire

Matthew “Matt” Caire is the Senior Portfolio Manager for Fixed Income Investments at Vaughan Nelson a Houston-based investment manager. Mr. Caire is directly responsible for the prudent management and successful oversight of approximately $2.5 billion of client assets. He joined Vaughan Nelson in June 2021 and is the lead portfolio manager for the firm’s Limited Maturity strategy. Mr. Caire also serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for Lone Oak Trust Company. Prior to his current role, Mr. Caire helped lead the Investment Team at Houston Trust Company as a Senior Vice President of Investments. Mr. Caire carries over 13 years of experience in the Financial Services industry spanning various roles across Investment Advisory, Trust, and Institutional Investment Management firms. In addition, he currently serves as the Investments Instructor for the CFP Program and he is also the Academic Director for the CFA Review course at Rice University’s Glasscock School of Continuing Studies. Mr. Caire graduated with honors from Texas State University with an undergraduate degree in Business Marketing. He has earned a Master of Finance degree from Tulane University’s Freeman School of Business and carries the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), and Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designations. Mr. Caire is also an Eagle Scout and serves as an Arbitrator for FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority). Mr. Caire is actively involved in his local community through various professional organizations. He is currently the Founder of the Houston RIA Roundtable group and serves on the Investment Committee for the DaCamera Endowment Fund. Prior to that, Mr. Caire served as the Co-Chair for the Market Technicians Association of Houston and was a Board Member for the Financial Planning Association of Houston.
