Building Careers in the Age of COVID-19 and Beyond

About this session

Clearly, we are going through a period of profound change and significant challenges. No one could have predicted the reality of our current 2020 employment forecast. If you were a job seeker several months ago, this is a very different landscape compared to today! The coronavirus pandemic has affected businesses and employees around the globe and impacted the livelihoods of millions of people, but to limit the damage we must enhance our preparedness.

With the proper skills and mindset, now is a good time to reflect on your career and professional development, explore your interests, identify your skills gaps, and pursue potential growth opportunities.

In this webinar, Kathleen Fenninger, co-founder of the Institute of Human Resource Education at Rice University, will discuss how those that come out of this experience successfully are those who use the opportunity to learn and grow no matter how daunting the present may seem.

Kathy will respond to the following questions, among others, during her presentation:

  • How do I explain employment gaps on my resume due to unexpected furloughs and layoffs?
  • How do I approach my professional development during a time like this?
  • Should I consider a change in industry or employer in a market like today’s?
  • How do I approach a job search right now?
  • How do I stay focused and energized?

Join us for a discussion on how developing a structured approach will help the workforce navigate the new realities of the labor market.
